Brief Biodata:
Mr. Shiu Lingam currently serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Accounting at Fiji National University, Fiji. He holds a Master of Commerce and a Post Graduate Diploma, both conferred by the Fiji National University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of the South Pacific. He is a Chartered Accountant registered with the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA).
Mr. Lingam commenced his professional career as a secondary school teacher, serving in various regions across Fiji, including the Western, Central, and Maritime Zones. During his tenure in the secondary education sector, he contributed significantly to the development of accounting education by authoring accounting textbooks for Years 11, 12, and 13.
His areas of academic and professional expertise include Public Sector Accounting, Taxation, Business Ethics, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Financial Accounting, and Forensic Accounting. At Fiji National University, he teaches undergraduate courses and supervises students in the completion of their final-year research projects. Mr. Lingam is also an active researcher and has been publishing research articles in the ranked journals.
In addition to his academic responsibilities, Mr. Lingam has played an instrumental role in the review and enhancement of accounting curricula to align with industry demands, contributing to the successful accreditation of FNU’s accounting programs by FICA, CPA Australia, and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ).
