Brief Biography:
Mr. Anish Chand is a dedicated banking and finance professional with over a decade of experience in the financial services sector, specializing in operations, payments, and customer service within the Pacific banking industry. Currently serving as an Assistant Lecturer at the Fiji National University (FNU) in the School of Economics and Finance, Mr. Chand brings both academic insight and hands-on banking experience to the education and development of future finance professionals.
Before his academic role, Mr. Chand worked extensively at the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) Fiji, from 2008 to 2015. His career at ANZ spanned various roles across retail banking, branch operations, and Pacific regional payments processing. He began as a teller and Branch Support Officer at the ANZ Namaka branch, where he also served as Fire Warden, before progressing into roles within ANZ Pacific Operations. There, he was involved in outward payments, foreign exchange, anti-money laundering (AML) compliance, and adherence to Reserve Bank of Fiji guidelines. His area of research is focused on the banking industry.
