Unit Name: Agri-business Management

Description: This unit introduces students to concepts of agribusiness management showing the importance of economic utilization of scarce resources in agriculture, analyse the functions of management. It describes the opportunities and constraints faced in their availability and use to achieve objectives. It demonstrates the importance of farm office management and the importance of physical and financial records/ recordkeeping for affective planning. It explains the different enterprises types and the opportunities to grow and manage them as successful agribusinesses. It discusses physical and financial planning and its importance in agriculture. It discusses the different types of budgets and budgeting techniques use in agribusiness and the interpretation of budgetary information. It discusses the basic taxation and its importance to agriculture and tax exemptions in agriculture. Emphasis has also been placed on agriculture laws to provide some basic knowledge on legal issues surrounding agribusiness.
