Programme Description
This module is designed to meet the requirements of first-time tuition in cool rooms and freezer rooms practices for refrigeration workers to describe the different types of cool rooms and freezer rooms and how they are serviced. The trainees will be able to understand the controls and  adjustments of components for cool room and freezer rooms and have knowledge of the design category types, materials, equipment and constructional characteristics of cool rooms and freezer rooms. To have an understanding about food storage conditions. The unit standards encompassed in this module is equivalent to Level 4 of theNational Qualification for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trade.
Course Learnings
Correct food preservation requirements for commercial food storage including the temperature ranges and relative humidity for various products,
Identify and describe the various types of cool rooms and freezer rooms currently used
Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts and specifications used in the installation of cool rooms and freezer rooms
Describe and adjust components of cool rooms and freezer rooms including defrosting arrangements
Identify and adjust system and defrost controls with reference to control circuit diagrams, to give required storage conditions
