The Department of Construction Industry (DCI) training programs is targeted at the school leavers, the unemployed in the country and also those currently employed who may not have had any formal or non-formal training in these trade sectors. Construction includes the; Carpentry Trade, Cabinet Making, Plumbing and Wet Trade.<\/p>\n
One of the success for the Department of Construction (DCI) is our ability to tailor programs to suit the changing needs of our industry, the new technology, products and services. We are committed to follow specific standards of performance like the; Fiji Building Code, Water and Sewerage Act, Australian and New Zealand Standards (AS and NZS), International Standard Organisation (ISO), International Labour Organisation (ILO) and other standards which coincides with the needs of the construction industry.<\/p>\n
On completion of the Department of Construction core and electives (specialized), training modules, participants would have attained the fundamental skills and knowledge required in each relevant trades to be deemed as Semi-skilled or a tradesperson. The Department programmes are all vetted by the relevant Industry Advisory Committees before it is approved by FNU\u2019s Senate. These short courses now all have credit point allocations to assess requisition of prior learning for attainment programs in the relevant pathways.<\/p>\n
On gaining employment and work experience within the construction industry for a number of years, participants will be entitled to attend refresher training modules enabling the participant to sit for the NTPC\u2019s Class III Trade Test in their respective construction trade sector. As these programs have been developed in conjunction with the Construction Industry Training Advisory Committee the Construction Industry Council (CIC), the Fiji Master Builders Association (FMBA) and other industry stakeholders.<\/p>\n
