FIPHR has an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fnu.ac.fj\/college-of-medicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/09\/Fiji_Institute_of_Pacific_Health_Research_Strategic_Plan_2020-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">overall vision<\/a> of supporting Pacific Island countries in developing healthier communities by focusing on knowledge creation, exchange, integration and application through research as well as innovation and research capacity needed to address their communicable disease, obesity and NCD crises, address sexual health issues, promote, restore and\/or maintain population health and wellbeing and reduce their inequalities in health.<\/p>\n<p>FIPHR is comprised of five Research Centres (RCs), a Research Training and Repository Unit, and an administration arm. The five RCs include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pacific Research Centre for the Prevention of Obesity and NCDs (C-POND)<\/li>\n<li>Pacific Sexual Reproductive and Health Research Centre (PACS-RH)<\/li>\n<li>Centre for Health Information<\/li>\n<li>Policies &amp; Systems Research (CHIPSR)<\/li>\n<li>Communicable Diseases Research Centre (CDRC)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Research Centre for other health challenges prioritised by FIPHR that do not fall under one of these Centres.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Vision<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A model of excellence in ground-breaking, impactful and ethical health research in the Pacific islands region, generating evidence to address health and wellness and inform the region\u2019s health outcomes in the future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Mission<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To plan, conduct, teach, support, facilitate health research and disseminate findings which generate relevant and timely evidence-based health information, policies and programme, protocols and guidelines and best practices for current and future development of College staff and students, national Pacific island governments, regional institutions and communities and other like-minded partners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Values<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accountability<\/li>\n<li>Accuracy and timelines<\/li>\n<li>Empowering research partnerships<\/li>\n<li>Ethical conduct<\/li>\n<li>Evidenced-based progress<\/li>\n<li>Robust research driven by need<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>FIPHR has identified 11 strategic research themes include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Mental Health (MH), Recreational Drugs, Suicide, Alcohol and Stigma;<br \/>\n6. Climate Change, Environmental and Global Health;<br \/>\n7. Oral Health and Social Behaviour;<br \/>\n8. Health Systems, Policy, Economics, Private and Public Partnerships &amp; Governance;<br \/>\n9. Injuries and Disability, Rehabilitation, Occupational Health; and<br \/>\n10. Indigenous Health, Spirituality and Alternative Medicines.<br \/>\n11.
