Construction Industry

DSC08209

The Department offers TVET Stream programmes relating directly to the construction trade sectors for a diverse range of firms in the private sector. The programmes play a very crucial role in the overall efficiency and productivity of any organization in the construction industry.

Our programmes have been in existence since the inception of this University and the former Training & Productivity Authority of Fiji (TPAF). In line with ever changing construction technology and new techniques in delivery of trade skills programs, NTPC have also been constantly reviewing its programmes. This has led to the Technical Training Division becoming the leaders in NTPC in the development of Competency Based Training (CBT) concepts for the Skills Trade sectors.

The programmes currently offered by our department comprises of the following: Carpentry & Building, Plumbing and Sheetmetal, Cabinet Making and Blocklaying and Plastering. In-built into NTPC trade programs is a focused emphasis on practical training and assessments which is a major component of CBT training.

To meet dynamics of the contemporary labor market, the Department also offers evening classes and short courses to suit existing workers in industry and also for new entrants to industry. Apart from regular industry consultation, we also have close contact with the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Fiji Master Builders Association (FMBA)

All NTPC developed programmes are taught by NTPC staffs with appropriate trade qualification that possess industrial experience which proves to be very relevant to both industry participants and new entrant participants. We look forward to serving the needs of the industry by providing well qualified and experienced training staff.
