The Department of Aviation & Travel is based at the FNU NTPC Namaka Center in Nadi. We are also setting up training centers in almost every Hospitality, Aviation, and Travel & Tourism region around the country. We are proud to be associated with the industry and also work with them to help us develop specialized training programmes that would meet their needs. e.g. Tour Guide Operation, Recreation & TourismHair, Beauty & Spa Services, Personal Grooming & Social Education.

These courses are best suited to those who are looking for a job, a promotion, career change or adding extra knowledge and skills to their current competencies. The Department is able to deliver, through its industry-based courses and strategic training partners.

Non-award programmes like in-bound Travel Service, Customer Service, relating to the tourism industry are also on offer. We also tailor make programs upon requests by various organisations or through industry demands.

The programme structure has been reviewed to ensure compatibility with the requirement of National Training and Productivity Centre's Grant Scheme Five, registration of training staff and also to provide easier excess to programs by prospective participants.

National Training & Productivity Centre, Hair, Beauty & Spa Training Academy facilitates personal development and provides an introduction to the knowledge and practical skills of Hair Designing, Beauty Therapy & Spa Therapy, Customer Care and Salon Care with complimentary “YOGA SESSION”.

Due to immense growth of Beauty Industry in the Fiji Islands, the demand has increased for certified Beautician, Hair dresser, Makeup Artist and Massage Therapist.

It is useful as preparation for employment or possible future training in the hairdressing, beauty business and ayurveda massage therapy. Students can also apply the knowledge and skills acquired in improving their own personal presentation.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements as these courses are for anyone who wishes to have a career tourism industry or in a private organisation. 

Target Group
Industry workers and new recruit, unemployed youth and school leavers, employees who wish to pursue their career path in the Industry, front Line staff and other interested Employees.

Training and Methodology

This training will consist of presentation & discussion by the facilitator, practical sessions, group work, role Play, PPT, and DVD

Delivery Mode

Theory, practical, case studies, group discussion and video presentation and in-house Programmes (Note: delivery is  flexible according to the  training needs of an organisation).

Course Introduction - Tour Guiding Operations

The Tour Guiding programme is available to persons who wish to obtain formal qualifications in recreation and activities sector, the Cruise Industry, Inbound Tour Operations, Tour Guide and Adventure Travel segment. 

The course content has been divided into a series of training units which cover all the subject areas offered in the Statement of Attainment in Tour Guiding Operations. This training unit is one of the series, providing a comprehensive learning and review program of the skills and knowledge required to be qualified and effective personnel to wish to pursue a career in this field and also for industry personnel who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills

Course Introduction - Aviation and Travel

The Aviation and Travel Industry has evolved into a major market segment within the whole tourism sector in Fiji. As such the Aviation training departments has set upon creating or tailor making our training programs to capture this exciting market of job opportunities. Course Introduction - TAFE Hospitality & Tourism Award Programme

The National Training & Productivity Centre (NTPC), Award Tourism & Hospitality Section prides itself in the provision of award programs tailored to suit the industry and your employment needs. TAFE NSW Award Programs in Tourism and Hospitality Management are offered at our National Training & Productivity Centre - Namaka and delivered by locally based experienced and qualified staff. This means that our training is both up to date and relevant. This also means that we teach `hands-on’ skills or practical skills desired by industry.

TAFE NSW programs have an entry level of Certificate III through to Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Advanced Diploma of Tourism respectively. The Advanced Diploma program has a pathway to the Bachelor of Business Degree in most Australian Universities.

TAFE also has provisions for recognizing the skills and knowledge you have gained through previous studies, work and life experiences. We call this RECOGNITION. If you are given recognition for a unit/module you do not need to do it. In some cases recognition may allow you to complete your course faster. Your current skills and knowledge can be assessed and mapped onto the current competencies of a desired qualification. You may contact us for more information on RECOGNITION.

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery – 11570

Description: This qualification reflects the role of commercial cooks who use a wide range of cookery skills. They use discretion and judgment and have a sound knowledge of kitchen operations. They work with some independence and under limited supervision and may provide operational advice and support to team members.

This qualification provides a pathway to work as a commercial cook in organizations such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes, cafeterias and coffee shops.

It provides options for specialisation in areas such as accommodation services, food and beverage and gaming. The qualification also allows an outcome for small businesses requiring multi-skilled employees.
