IELTS stands for “International English Language Testing System”. It is a test of English language skills designed for those who want to study in the medium of English either at University or College and for those who seek employment opportunities in other English Speaking countries. The IELTS Preparation Course is a comprehensive multi – level course aimed at preparing students for both the Academic and General Training Modules of the English Language Testing System [IELTS].The Course teaches English Language that the students need, to ensure success in tertiary studies in addition to training the students in the various test- taking strategies for each language skill tested by the IELTS.
The test is in four parts reflecting the four basic language skills: - Listening - Reading - Writing - Speaking
Performance is rated on a scale of 1-9. Candidates receive a Test Report Form which shows their overall performance reported as a single band score and receive individual scores for each part of the test.
Course Objectives At the end of the course, students should be able to: - Begin, maintain and end a conversation with a native English speaker with a high degree of fluency - Use vocabulary wide enough to communicate, orally as well as written, with a high degree of accuracy on a range of topics - Fully understand details in speech directed to him and fully comprehend details in information via reading or viewing - Predict with a high degree of accuracy the content of a complex piece of text - Describe in detail complex graphical information, facts, figures and trends - Write highly coherent and well-structured letters and essays on appropriate topics
