ACTING HEAD OF DEPARTMENT

I extend to you a warm welcome to the Department of Management, Industrial Relations and Occupational Health and Safety, of the College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies in Fiji National University. The basic purpose of this Department is to produce high quality graduates with entrepreneurial skills. By "high quality" we mean people who can communicate effectively, who can cooperate in team efforts, who have an international perspective and an acute sense of social responsibility, and - above all - who have a strong drive to improve themselves through lifelong learning, in addition to the knowledge about the respective subject domains. The entrepreneurial skills help you to start your own industrial or business concerns. Whatever is your goal in life, we are here to support you and equip you in a life-long learning relationship.

Our education programs are student-centric and learning-oriented, with emphasis on new job-oriented professional management programmes and restructuring the existing ones to meet  the competitive modern business world. Management education is multi-disciplinary in nature. Nevertheless, managerial job requirements vary from organization to organization and are situation-dependent. We, at the Department of Management, are sensitive to this requirement, and update our programs continuously based on the interactions with the industries and business houses of Fiji, and they are aware of the nature and contents of the management programs of the Department. Our faculty keeps abreast of student, employer, and community expectations in this fast changing economic, technological and social environment. We have a rich and dynamic combination of international and local experience which we bring to the classroom to prepare our students for the realities and challenges of business in the modern world.

The doors of the Department of Management are always open to all our existing and future students and their parents/guardians, and as well to our proud Alumni. Studying at the Department of Management is an experience we believe students will enjoy while they are here and cherish for the rest of their lives.
