Division of Technical Training

Welcome to the Technical Training Division, we are delighted to share with you our experiences whether you are just beginning your training or you are looking for professional advancement continued training. We offer hands-on training from experienced Training Officers in a wide range of engineering programme.

The courses offered are in areas of building, marine and ports, automotive, refrigeration & air conditioning, welding & fabrication, electrical engineering, electronics, computer aided drafting, basic fitting skills, diagnostic maintenance, steam generations, plumbing & sheet metal, block layer, cabinet making and joinery and industrial automation. All training is undertaken in our 3 major Centres – Narere, Naceva and Labasa training Centres with special training modules also conducted in other Centres such as Sigatoka, Rakiraki and Savusavu.

The value of our modular descriptor has been reinforced through the recognitions of credit points within the Fiji National University. This would further create more options for students to either enter the industries with Certificate 3 or pursue their studies towards Diploma and Degree Level at the College of Engineering, Science and Technology.

Those who wish to work and continue to pursue their studies toward achieving Certificate 3 or 4 will also benefit from these credit point recognitions. Industries will benefit as training gap identified can be filled through packaging of competencies tailor made for individual needs.

Technical Training experiences will help you prepare for the ever-growing demand for specialized technical jobs that in turn require specialized technical training. These careers are very diverse, and include emerging professionals as workplace needs grow. We conduct industry development forum where employers and community representatives tell us the kind of skills they require for their business. It is one of the ways we stay current.

Trainees typically work toward certificates, and will follow specialized modular programme that prepares students for work in nearly any type of environment, from private business to government agencies.

We connect education to technical training through the Basic Employment Skills Training and National Employment Centre- Government initiatives for students which leads to labour market entry and from labour market to workplace entry and a lifelong term learning – can help Fiji sustain productivity growth and translate that growth into more and better jobs. The objective is to provide alternative skills training for secondary school leavers and those who have left the formal education system.

We hope that you will enjoy your learning experience with Technical Training.
