The global aerospace and civil aviation industry has a continuous demand for skilled and well-trained Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. The increasing demand from general aviation companies, domestic and international airlines, both in Fiji and abroad, means that you are entering a profession with worldwide opportunities.
At the Department of Aviation Studies, our continued growth and success have created outstanding opportunities in the expanding and challenging fields of the aviation industry.We prepare our future aircraft engineers with knowledge and skills to achieve mastery of the trade, meeting all the regulatory requirements of high level performance and expectations.
Our complex facilities are uniquely situated next to the Nadi International Airport and we are working towards their full utilization for training in other areas of the aviation industry.Currently we are catering for the needs of the students from Fiji and the region including Vanuatu, Solomon's, PNG, Tuvalu, Kiribati, and Tonga who are keen to acquire quality technical education in the field of aircraft engineering.
The programmes offered are:
a) Certificate IV in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering - (Mechanical)
This programme duration is 4 years and consists of 4 Units @ 18 weeks per Unit, which is 2 Units per year. The first three units are taught consecutively before the students are released for 18 months of practical attachment to the various airlines in Fiji for the local students and regional airlines for the overseas students. Unit 4 is taught after the practical attachment. Graduation should follow when all the components are satisfactorily completed.
b) Certificate IV in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering - (Avionics)
This programme duration is 4 years and consists of 6 units @ 12 weeks per unit, which is 2 units per year. 6 months of practical attachment at the various airlines in Fiji for the local students and regional airlines for the overseas students is done at the end of the 2 stages for years 1 and 2. An extra 6 months of practical is done at the completion of unit 6. Graduation should follow when all the components are satisfactorily completed.
c) Other programmes and short courses can be developed and delivered as per the needs of the aviation industry.
